Tata Motors will add two premium SUVs, codenamed ‘Q501’ & ‘Q502’

As already read by our dear readers in our previous posts in the month of August 2014 at BharathAutos, Tata Motors had approved to develop two new Global SUVs with R&D assistance from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). The two global SUVs comprise of a 5 seater compact SUV codenamed as Q501 and a 7 seater SUV codenamed as Q502.

Now as per the reports obtained across the web, the two upcoming SUV’s is rumored to be powered with 2.0-liter MultiJet diesel engine co-developed with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).These new engines are expected to be developed at the Tata-Fiat Ranjangaon factory. Once these new engines are developed, it would be used in the upcoming SUV codenamed as Q501, Q502 and all new compact SUV codenamed as 554 which would later be sold by FCA under the Jeep Brand globally.

The inputs from JLR would help Tata to improve in the areas of providing better body stiffness, performance, architecture and improved new technologies. The two new global SUVs are expected to be introduced by 2017 at a price tag of INR 16-25 lakhs in the Indian market.
