BMW to roll-out the 3-series Gran Limousine on January 21 next year

BMW are all set to enter the first month of 2021 with some steady progress. The German automaker will launch the 3-series Gran Limousine during that time, which of course will be its first product launch of 2021. As per reports, the 3-series Gran Limousine is scheduled for an official launch here on January 21 next year.

The 3-series Gran Limousine is essentially a longer wheelbase version of the 3-series, with the former being on sale in the Chinese market. When launched, it is set to become the longest sedan in its segment, eclipsing the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which currently holds this distinction. The 3-series Gran Limousine is measured at a length of 4829mm, which is longer than its standard model by a good 120mm.

Other than that, it has a wheelbase of 2961mm, which is extended by 110mm as supposed to the 3-series. It will receive a host of features as seen on its standard model. These include wireless charging, three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay and BMW Gesture control to name a few.

The 3-series Gran Limousine will employ a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder, in-line turbocharged petrol motor. This engine produces a healthy 255 BHP of power and 400 Nm of torque. In addition to that, the engine does come mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

There is also a chance of BMW giving it a 2.0 litre diesel motor like on the 3-series. This makes an output of 188 BHP power along with 400 Nm torque. It also comes mated to the same 8-speed automatic transmission.

At ppresent, the 3-series is available with a price tag of Rs. 42.30 lakh to Rs.49.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The 3-series Gran Limousine on the other hand could command a slight premium over it by the time it comes to our shores. When launched, it will mainly be rivalling the Mercedes Benz C-Class and replace the 3-series Gran Tourismo, which is also set to be phased out in a handful of international markets.
