Tata Motors is on the brink of launching the Tata Nano CNG it displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo, and Tata Nano diesel plans also getting a little closer to reality. Now Abdul Matlub Ahmed, Chairman of Nitol Group, distributor of the Tata cars in Bangladesh has confirmed that a fresh deal has been finalized and a batch of 200 Nanos will reach the neighboring country by mid-February.
Bangladesh also has very high import duty to protect the domestic manufacturers, which means that the world’s cheapest car will cost Rs 4.08 lakh (6,50,000 Taka) there. Tata has set a very conservative initial sales figure of 2,000 units per year and may also consider setting up an assembly-line after looking at the response to the car. Tata is also planning to export Nano to few South East Asian countries like Myanmar and Indonesia to maximize utilization of the facility and quickly recover investment.
