We have reported earlier many times, Force Motors planning to launch a new SUV very soon, which earlier had no name. But now Force Motors unveiled its new SUV to be called Force “One”. A member of the popular Team-BHP enthusiast forum snapped the new Force One while it was on a test run around the Leh Manali road near Rohtang Pass in a camouflage.
This 7seater SUV will be priced around Rs. 10-12 lakh, which means it will directly compete with Mahindra the biggest rulers of the segment, Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari. The car looks very much similar to the Foday Explorer and is really huge which means that road presence would not be an issue for this car.
Force Motors is working day and night on the One, their first shot at the personal car segment. The company known better for its Traveller van and Trump mini truck has developed many of the components in-house. Softer parts have come from China and Thailand such as the interior trim and plastic elements. Key components such as the steering, brakes, clutch, etc have been developed and tested by Indian suppliers or by Force in house. Localization level is to the tune of 75%.
The SUV will get a 2.2-litre common-rail turbo-diesel which develops 140bhp and 35kgm of torque via a five-speed manual transmission, which is the same unit that powered the W210 E-class when it was first launched in 2000; though this engine is now a generation old, it still meets the latest Bharat Stage IV norms and promises better performance and refinement than homegrown engines from Mahindra and Tata.
