Anything-on-Wheels spotted the upcoming Force Motors SUV again at Pune. The test mule was heavily camouflaged but still, the shape of the vehicle clearly resembles the Guangdong Foday Explorer III as speculated earlier. Force Motors is expected to announce the official launch date very soon.
The current Foday Explorer sold in China is as big as the Ford Endeavour SUV sold in India. The China-specific SUV has three-row seating (all front facing). The seating arrangement is similar to Tata Aria’s, two at the front, three in the middle and two in the third row layout. Cargo space is above average. If India-bound SUV inherits the dimensions and cabin space of the Explorer, it will be the biggest SUV on offer in India priced between Rs. 12 lakh – Rs. 15 lakh.
Force Motors MD Prasan Firodia told IndianAutosBlog last month, that his SUV will have the same powertrain found on the Mercedes Benz C220 CDI (displacing 2,143cc). The power and torque ratings will vary as the application differs. Force is not worried about a delay in the launch considering the product quality was a top priority. The company sells Traveller, Trax, Toofan, Trump and its passenger application Trump Trip is expected shortly. Can we see a ‘T’ name on this product as well?
The interiors are sure to be extremely spacious with enough room to accommodate three rows of passengers and their luggage as well. Quality and durability of the interiors would be a big question though. Hopefully, the mechanicals with inputs from stalwarts like Daimler and Lotus should be one positive aspect of this vehicle. But, if Force Motors wants to project this as a luxury SUV as they claim it to be, they really need to spruce up the interiors and the exteriors.
The Pune-based utility vehicle maker Force Motors has invested more than 300Cr in their Pithampur plant to develop this SUV. Also company is setting up a 50-strong dealership network to sell the upcoming SUV and as expected, it will sell only passenger vehicles of the company.
By the way the latest spy shot of Force Motors new SUV clearly reveals its Chinese connection as well. Force Motors may bring a rebadged version of Guangdong Foday Explorer III to our market. We have added an image below of Guangdong Foday Explorer III for better understanding.
