Ford launched its Figo in 2010 which was an India specific model and was an instant hit. The Figo had bagged various awards including the “Car of the Year” award in 2011. Ford Figo was in fact the car that saved Ford’s lagging business in the country when the hatchback segment was in a huge demand. There is another hatch in the Ford line-up the ford Ka which is sold across the UK and Europe. Both the Figo and the Ka have been around for some time and they are due for an extreme makeover.

Ford has already started working on these and the test mule has been spotted in testing in Germany. Instead of having two different vehicles Ford will replace both with a single model and that will be made available across the globe as per the One Ford global strategy. The renderings based on the various spy images give a clear picture of the cars sporty styling. The new Figo has looks completely different than the existing Figo, the front bumper has a grill that would make us think of the Aston Martin and the curvy profile on the bonnet and the top is carried all around the car.

Although not much about the engine and the transmission is known, but it would not be wrong to guess assume that the new Figo might come equipped with the EcoSport petrol and Duratorq diesel engine. The car may also be equipped with features like SYNC. Although the company has begun testing next-generation Ford Figo/Ka, the production is at least two years away. The new Figo will also be the first product to be manufactured at the Fords new Sanand factory in Gujarat.
