GM India displays the Trailblazer SUV, Camaro ZL1 & Corvette Stingray
Auto Shows act as a medium through which the manufacturers connect with the world, and the high amount of media coverage ensures that the products launched and displayed there will get maximum publicity, and hence manufacturers must try and showcase their best at these Auto Shows. At the Auto Expo held in Delhi earlier this year, many manufacturers did just that, and among them was American Automobile manufacturer, Chevrolet.
At the Auto Expo, Chevrolet revealed the Adra, a new compact SUV, the designing work on which was done entirely by Indian Designers. Chevrolet also revealed the new, Refreshed Beat and displayed the C7 Corvette, Trailblazer SUV and Camaro.
Here’s a Brief:
Chevrolet TrailBlazer:
The Trailblazer is a full-size SUV sold in international markets like Thailand, Brazil and South Africa, by Chevrolet, the Trailblazer was displayed at the Indian auto expo, which suggests that it would soon be launched in India, but it was confirmed that it would not be launched in the near future. If launched at a later time, the trailblazer will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MU-X.
The Trailblazer is available with two diesel and one petrol engine options. First up is a 2.5-liter version (with 148 hp and 350 Nm) that is available only as a 4X2 variant with a five-speed manual transmission. The 2.8-liter variant comes in both 4X2 and 4X4 configurations. While the 4X4 is available both in manual and automatic, the 4X2 gets only an AT variant. There’s also a 3.6-liter petrol-only variant that comes only all-wheel drive + AT configuration
The 2.8 liter engine in the car that was displayed had a maximum output of 177 BHP and 470 NM!
Chevrolet Corvette:
The Corvette needs no introduction at all, as it is one of the all-time famous cars in the history of automobiles. Launched way back in 1953, the car has come a long long way to where it stands right now. After launching loads of updates, refreshes and limited edition models, it has come to this monster of a machine. What started out as a street muscle car has now ended up as a full-blown super car.
The new Corvette is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine which produces 450 hp and 610 Nm of torque. These figures enable the supercar to hit 100 km/h from rest in just 4 seconds. The transmission used is, a newly developed 7-speed double-clutch gearbox with active rev-matching/blipping tech as standard. The Corvette is also made up of lightweight materials like carbon-fiber and aluminium in order to reduce weight and go faster.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1:
Like the Corvette, this too started its life way back, in 1966. The Camaro was made solely with the intention that it would compete with the Ford Mustang and boy, did the Camaro win hearts. The car was a muscle car back then, and it still is a muscle car today too.
Under the hood is a fire-breathing, 6.2 liter, supercharged V8, with a ground-breaking maximum output of 580 BHP and an earth-shattering 753 NM of Torque. This monster of an engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which sends drive to the rear wheels. Despite weighing a lot, the Camaro can do the run from 0-100 in just 4 seconds and go on to touch a maximum velocity of 297 KMPH.
