Although Yamaha isn’t a name you’d traditionally associate with cars, but it has been designing and building engines for major carmakers, including Ford and Volvo. The company has also unveiled a 2-door compact city car concept – MOTIV at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Now the brand is all set to take another leap by unveiling the Yamaha 4Wheeler sportscar concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

Ahead of the unveiling, Yamaha has released a teaser image of its new concept car, which the company says is ‘inspired by motorcycles’. Given the ‘motorcycle inspired’ design, Yamaha may even give it an engine from one of its premium motorcycles. The teaser image indicates that the concept will be a 2-seater sports coupe.

According to Autocar UK, citing unconfirmed sources, the four-wheeler will be called exactly that, the ‘Yamaha 4Wheeler’. Another report suggests the possibility of the car being a plug-in hybrid or a fully electric vehicle.
