Mr. Narendra Modi, the new Prime Minister of India, has finally chosen armored BMW 7-Series over Mahindra Scorpio as the car for his fleet. The Mahindra Scorpio has been Modi’s favorite vehicle which he has been using as the Chief Minister of Gujarat as well as throughout the 2014 General Elections campaign. Though he came in an armored Scorpio for his swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, however, on his first day to office Modi came in a chauffeured BMW 7-Series.

The chairman and managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra, Mr. Anand Mahindra expressed a few days ago that it will be a moment of immense pride and joy for the automaker if Modi chooses made in India Mahindra Scorpio over the German BMW 7-Series. It appears that they even wrote a letter to him requesting the same. However, it was the Special Protection Group who made the final call and they settled for BMW 7-Series over Mahindra Scorpio. Perhaps Mahindra still needs to go a long way on its dynamics, performance, attack preparedness and security.
The armored BMW 7-Series is perhaps the safest car available in the country. It comes with every little security measure to protect its occupants from bombs, rifle fires, chemical or gas attacks, etc. It has sensors for missiles and bombs. Moreover, the car can even run on flat tired for miles. Its fuel tank will not explode even when the vehicle is fired upon or has been set explosives to.
The 760Li High Security edition of BMW 7-Series given to Modi has met the highest ballistic protection class B6/B7 available. This edition has been widely used across the world to offer high level of security to important individuals. Thus, BMW 7 series is indeed a right choice of official vehicle for the Prime Minister of India.
