Mercedes-Benz India have launched a special edition of their SUV, the GLS, christened the GLS Grand Edition. This model is inspired by the S-Class sedan and will be a luxurious alternative to the GLS in Mercedes-Benz India line-up. The GLS Grand Edition comes with a fair amount of changes which you do not associate with the original SUV.
This includes a ‘Grand Edition’ badge on the exterior, full LED headlamps and chrome fins on the bonnet. On the inside, it features ARTICO leather upholstery having an aluminium and pore ash wood trim. It also features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system having Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The GLS Grand Edition will employ a V6 motor under the hood. This 3.0-litre diesel engine can produce 258 BHP of power and 620 Nm of torque. There is also a 3.0-litre petrol engine available as an option, producing 333 BHP of power and 480 Nm of torque.
Both come mated to a Tronic 9-speed auto gearbox which gives power to all the four wheels. The GLS Grand Edition is launched at a price of Rs. 86.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is about 4 lakhs more expensive than the ordinary model. It will rival the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and the yet to be launched Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
