The Maruti Suzuki YRA should finally be making its market debut soon, as the cars is seen wearing Maruti Suzuki badges on the tail gate spotted by our usual Maruti-only spy photographers GaadiWaadi.com. The YRA was first spied undergoing testing last-month, and could be launched sooner than expected, with the Indian Car of the Year 2015 Hyundai i20 in its cross hairs.
First look at the India-spec Maruti Suzuki YRA production model.
Once launched, the YRA will rival the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Honda Jazz. At the moment, we have numerous spy shots of the YRA premium hatch revealing its exteriors as well as interiors. The vehicle shares facial similarities with the Swift, especially if you look at the headlight! While rear is new territory not seen on Suzuki before. The interior adopts a fresh design and is richly equipped.
Powering the hatchback will be Suzuki’s new 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor while the 1.3-litre DDiS is likely to be the diesel engine of choice. Reports also suggest that the car could weigh 90 kg lesser than the Swift. That would be ridiculously light as the Swift itself is a very light hatchback. Suspension set-up and driving dynamics are also expected to focus more on comfort.
