Heads up folks, the new Maruti YRA premium hatchback is now here in India. This is the first time that the YRA, has been spotted doing test rounds in India. Already in our previous articles, the exteriors and interiors of the YRA have been revealed, but the fresh pics reveal boot space.
The Maruti YRA is a size larger than the Swift.
The YRA is likely to go on-sale in 2015 and Maruti plans to position this car above the Swift, in direct competition with the Hyundai Elite i20 and the upcoming Honda Jazz. Although positioned above the Swift, the YRA will be lighter than the Swift by a good 90 kgs which in-return will provide better fuel efficiency and improved performance.
We’re expecting the Indian YRA range to be available with a newly developed 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine while the 1.3-litre DDiS is likely to be the diesel engine of choice. Also there are reports on the web of YRA getting 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine, however, at the moment it is unclear. The YRA is speculated to make world debut at 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March next-year.
Maruti Suzuki is staying true to its words of launching 12 new vehicles to target a whopping 50% of the total market share in the country.
