Toyota launched its luxury arm Lexus in India with 2 new products, the Lexus RX SUV along with the Lexus EX executive sedan. They have also confirmed that the Lexus LX luxury SUV will also be launched in the not so distant future.
By 1st impression, all the 3 cars have different personality and will cater to the needs of luxury costumers who don’t mind spending the amount money they have.
The Lexus ES is priced at Rs 55.27 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi), and will be based on the Toyota Avalon saloon. It includes features like LED headlamps and taillamps, 17-inch wheels, 3-zone climate control, 10-airbags and an 8-inch Electro – multi vision (EMV). It will powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine of 158.18 bhp, along with electric and hybrid engines producing 140.76 bhp and 202.41 bhp respectively.
The crossover SUV, the Lexus RX will have a choice of 2 engines : Petrol (3.5-litre, 258.71 bhp), and electric (164.88 bhp). Power will be sent via CVT to the wheels. Features include 18-inch wheels, LED Daytime lamps, panoramic roof, 10-way driver and passenger power adjustable seats with Memory, front seat AC, 10 airbags and much more.
Toyota has also stated that the flagship – SUV Lexus LX will go on-sale soon and India will get a full-size SUV, while it remains to be seen whether the SUV can capture the market or not, as the heavy import duties are borne by the buyers.
