The Wrangler diesel available in the same 5-door configuration was launched in August-2016, but today it’s a case of better late than never, as the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has officially a petrol version of its Jeep Wrangler SUV in the country.
Priced at Rs. 56 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the petrol model lowers the iconic American SUV’s entry price point by Rs. 15.59 lakh. This pricing puts the Wrangler in line with mid-sized luxury SUVs such as the Mercedes GLC and Land Rover Discovery Sport, although Wrangler lacks any direct rivals in its segment.
The grand-daddy of Jeeps, the Wrangler petrol is powered by a 3.6-litre Pentastar naturally aspirated V6 engine that churns out 280 BHP and 347 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission and distributed among them through the Command-Trac® Shift – on – the – Fly part-time four-wheel drive system.
This engine has a 2-step VVT system along with a new thermal management system and a cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system that is claimed to aid the SUV’s fuel efficiency. The ARAI-rated fuel economy figure of the Wrangler petrol is 8.4 KMPL.
Meanwhile, the features-list of Wrangler Unlimited is the same in petrol and diesel model.
