Alongside Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, Jeep India officially launched the Wrangler Unlimited in the country priced at Rs. 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Surprisingly, only one 5-door ‘Unlimited’ variant on-sale in India for now.
With exposed rivets, door hinges and bonnet clasps, along with protruding bumpers and wheel arches, the rugged, go-anywhere vehicles are instantly recognisable. The Unlimited variants are five-door, measuring 4,583 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width, 1,829 mm in height and 2,947 mm in wheelbase. The ground clearance is 238.2 mm. It has ground clearance of 238.2 mm and weighs 2,119 kg.
Noteworthy features include a 6.5-inch UConnect touchscreen entertainment system with voice command and navigation connected to a 9-speaker Alpine system, 40 GB hard drive, GPS navigation, heavy duty solid axles, 17-inch Goodyear tyres, automatic climate control, tyre pressure monitoring, and heated front seats. Also features removable doors, removable hard top, wash-out interiors with drain plugs and lockable centre console.
Wranglers gets a 2.8-litre CRD turbocharged 4 cyl diesel engine that develops 200 PS at 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,000 rpm. This unit is paired to a 5-speed automatic gearbox and ARAI claimed mileage is 12.1 KMPL. The Command Trac 4×4 system gets heavy duty solid axles, and 18 bolt main case joint clamping. Furthermore, Jeep claims the Wrangler is ‘the most capable production 4×4 vehicle in the world’.
