ŠKODA AUTO India launched the Skoda Karoq five-seat SUV at Rs. 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On-sale in a single fully-loaded variant and is available with a petrol engine only.
Skoda Karoq shares the platform and engine with and the Volkswagen T-Roc, it replaces the quirky Skoda Yeti and sits below the seven-seat Kodiaq SUV in the Czech brand’s India line-up. As the new Karoq is imported to India as a CBU under the 2,500-car import rule, thus is priced higher than some like-sized midsize SUVs.
The Skoda Karoq comes with headlamps with LED which have integrated daytime running lights with LED. It has trapezoidal fog lamps, mounted just below the headlamps. The car has standard Skoda grille with a chrome frame. The Karoq comes in at the rear with wraparound tail lights on the tail gate with Skoda lettering. It also has a dual-tone rear bumper, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and roof bars.
The Skoda Karoq comes with a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster on the inside. It has a head-unit 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, automatic 2-zone climate control and an integrated sunroof. Other features include 12-way, memory-adjustable driver seat, SmartLink connectivity and cruise control.
The Karoq is fitted with a range of safety features including 9 airbags, EBD and brake assist ABS, ESC, hill-start assist, and a camera for rear parking. A total of 6 color choices are on-offer – Candy White, Magnetic Brown, Lava Blue, Quartz Grey, Brilliant Silver and Magic Black.
Skoda Karoq is powered by a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which produces 148 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,500-3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to an automatic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that powers the front wheels.
