Seems like Honda is on the spree of pulling the plugs on the vehicles that do not seem to make the profit for them. The 2 wheeler division just pulled the plug on the Stunner Fi and now Honda Car India has done the same for the Honda Jazz hatchback. The car received a pricecut a while ago but the reduction in price could not help the sales of the cars which have been dropping every month for a while.
There have been reports which have suggested that Honda suffered a loss on every Jazz sold and that was the reason the company was never keen on advertising it too much. As a matter of fact, people at times have had to wait to receive their Jazz as Honda was hesitant to produce the car in large numbers. The car was present more as a presence maker rather than a volume car.
The Honda Jazz is fueled by a 1.2 litre iVtec engine that puts out 88 bhp and the car has acres of cabin space, courtesy its MPV like styling. The car was launched at quite a steep price initially but later on Honda reduced the car’s prices by almost Rs.1.5 lakhs and gave it a mid life facelift as well. But all these measures failed to boost the car’s sales.
The next gen Jazz will be launched in 2014 and will come in petrol as well as diesel guises. Honda has planned a diesel motor for all their cars in the next generation and the Jazz will be no exception. We hope Honda prices the Jazz well when it comes in its next gen avatar so that the next iteration of the car does not meet the same fate as the current generation.
