All eyes on much anticipated launch of Honda ‘s first diesel powered car called Honda Amaze. This is now scheduled to launch in April. According to Motor Vikatan, reported that Honda is now planned to launch its Amaze on the 18th of April.
Now, that we know that the Honda Amaze will be launched in India by the start of the next financial year, here is a low down on the technical specifications of the car. Let’s start with the diesel- the Honda Amaze diesel will be powered by a 1.5 liter i-DTEC motor with just about 80 horsepower and enough torque to make it quite a joy to drive. How do we know that? Well, Team Gaadi was in Japan for the media drive of the Honda Amaze and hence we may not be wrong to say that, you might just be amazed with the performance.
The petrol engine on the other hand will be a 1.2 liter unit. The engine is set to produce about 90 horsepower which is 10 more than the diesel. This is known territory for previous Honda owners as it is the same engine that powers the Jazz premium hatchback. The Honda Amaze launch date in India just around the corner, folks at Honda would be busy setting up the marketing channels for the upcoming product as competition in this segment is fierce.
Speaking of which, here are the main rivals- Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire continues to top the sales charts every month. Tata Motors on the other hand is trying to keep up with their Indigo eCS. The Mahindra Verito is also among the top rivals that Honda need to consider. Also, please note that all the rivals making the list come with diesel engines under their hoods and hence, Honda’s move to launch the Amaze diesel before anything else justifies their plan.
Finally, Honda also has plans set in motion for the launch of other diesel cars in India. Apart from the Amaze sedan, Honda will also launch a diesel variant of the Jazz and the City mid-sized sedan. Along with the Amaze, folks would also be waiting for the next-generation CR-V. In fact, the CR-V is almost ready to make its debut in India. There are some insider reports that we might be in for a surprise, for not many would’ve expected the SUV to arrive here so quickly. The new CR-V is larger, powerful and more economical that the past model, but Honda might offer it with a petrol engine only.
