Mahindra S201 and U321 to arrive during festive season

Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) have plans for launching the S201 compact SUV and the U321 MPV in the festive season this-year. This was recently confirmed by the home-grown automaker, who would look to have their say on both segments with their launches. Both models were surprisingly not unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo which took place in February.

The S201 is a compact SUV, which will be based on the SsangYong Tivoli, sold in International markets. It is expected to get a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine when launched. The S201 has been spotted numerous times under going testing, giving us the hint that it’s launch is not far away.

Mahindra S201’s engine include 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel.

Rivals for the S201 include the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the Tata Nexon. The U321 MPV is another product that is on the radar. Mahindra will phase out the Xylo to make space for the MPV.

It is expected to be a 7/9 seater MPV, and like the S201, has also been spotted number of times undergoing testing. The U321 MPV will be powered by a new 1.6-litre diesel engine, jointly developed by Mahindra and SsangYong. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Renault Lodgy.

Both of them will come with BS-VI compliant engines and will be based on a new platform. This platform has been jointly developed by both automakers, and will spawn future Mahindra models like the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio and XUV 500. We can say that Mahindra looks in a good position to record good sales number with these products.
