The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine has been serving the City for nearly a decade now it spits-out 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. The petrol motor is recognized for its refinement, fuel efficiency and performance, thus, is not likely to undergo any modifications. The addition of another gear ratio is expected to make the Honda City petrol more fuel efficient and a better highway cruiser.

Upon the launch during the festive season, the City will be the only petrol sedan in its segment to offer a 6-speed manual gearbox. And it will continue to offer an optional CVT with paddle shifters. The City diesel powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine is already equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.
