News has it that Tata Motors are developing a JTP version of their popular compact SUV, the Nexon. We can expect the model to be launched here sometime in 2020. Meanwhile, Tata Motors are preparing to launch the Tiago JTP in the upcoming festive season here.
The Nexon JTP, just like the Tiago JTP, will be developed in collaboration with Jayem Automotives. We can expect it to come with a revised suspension and few tweaks in design to make it look more sportier. On the interior, we can expect changes like leather seats, aluminium foot pedals and a black interior theme to be present.
Coming to the engine, the Nexon JTP will employ a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol motor. This engine can deliver 108 BHP of power and 170 Nm of torque, coming mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. A bump in power is also expected to happen by means of a remap.
The JTP version of Nexon will have a BS-VI compliant engine, meeting certain emission norms here. It will be rivalling the 125 BHP giving Ford Ecosport Ecoboost, which at present, is the only performance-oriented compact SUV in India. All we can say is with the JTP variant around corner, we can expect the appeal of Nexon to be enhanced from now on.
