Launched in January-2017 in India, Ducati 1299 Superleggera is priced at a whopping price tag of Rs 1,12,20,000 (ex-showroom), and is limited to just 500 units worldwide, all of them have been sold-out!
Out of 500, the bike no. 209 has arrived in India! Yes, you read it right, the first customer in India has taken the delivery of this beast. Its none other than passionate motorcycle enthusiast Vikram Oberoi who isn’t new to the Ducati brand, well, his garage is filled with Ducatis including the 1299 Panigale S, 916 and 1098. This super-exclusive collector’s item was handed over to Vikram Oberoi at the Buddh International Circuit.
The Ducati 1299 Superleggera is one of the motorcycles considered the epitome of track bikes ever produced on the planet, a shining beacon of the finest motorcycle engineering, technology and performance. Costing almost as much as a Mercedes S-Class at Rs. 1.12 Crore, it is the most expensive motorcycle ever sold in India.
Powered by a 1285cc Superquadro L-twin engine that is tuned to deliver 215 BHP, and breathes-out through an Akrapovic titanium race-spec exhaust system. It has a power-to-weight ratio of a whopping 1378 BHP per tonne, which is more than the Koenigsegg Regera, an 1800 BHP hypercar. All this firepower is housed inside a body that has a dry weight of just 156kg, which is less than what the 223cc Hero Karizma ZMR weighs.
Commenting on his new prized possession, Vikram Oberoi, said:
“Ducati make exceptional motorcycles and it’s a privilege for me to be one of Ducati’s customer in India. There is no better motorcycle manufacturer when it comes to performance bikes or bikes ridden on a racetrack.”
