New Ducati 1299 Superleggera is limited to 500 units worldwide.

As the word “Superleggera” – superlight – means, the 1299 Superleggera is absolutely dripping in carbon-fibre. First unveiled at the EICMA show in November-2016, the Italian bike maker has thus brought it to India within 2 months of its global debut. First of all, the 1299 Superleggera is the world’s lightest mass-produced motorcycle with the production restricted to just 500 units worldwide.

This limited edition motorcycle is almost an all-carbon fibre motorcycle except for the engine. Along with the carbon fibre wheels, it is the first production motorcycle to get a carbon fibre main frame and swingarm. Furthermore, the engine and other metallic components on the motorcycle also use exotic materials like titanium and billet aluminium, reaching the incredible dry weight of just 156kg.

Lighter, yet structurally stronger than any other Ducati on-sale worldwide.

Under the skin, the 1299 Superleggera continues to use a 1285 cc twin-cylinder Superquadro engine from the Panigale. However, the engine has been tuned to deliver 215bhp, and breathes out through an Akrapovic titanium race-spec exhaust system. Ducati also offers a race kit version that is even more powerful, at 218 BHP and 147 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox that also gets a quickshifter.

Exiting under the seat in true Ducati tradition, the trademark Ducati exhaust design makes a welcome comeback.

The Ducati 1299 Superleggera also comes with various rider-assistance and safety features to help keep it under control. These include Bosch cornering ABS, Ducati Slide Control, Engine Brake control, Ducati Power Launch and Ducati Traction Control. The race kit comprises a titanium Akrapovic race exhaust, race screen, plate holder removal kit, kickstand removal kit, billet mirror plugs, front and rear paddock stands, and bike cover.
