Bajaj Auto is reported to be manufacturing two bikes based on the platform of the Dominar. The two new versions will include a Scrambler and a Classic version of the Dominar. Both are expected to be launched by the end of the 2018.
Both these bikes will cater to a wide range of buyers. While the Dominar Classic will be aimed at those who are everyday cruisers, the Dominar Scrambler will be for adventure loving enthusiasts. Both will be launched by Bajaj to take away market share from the Royal Enfield range as well as expensive motorcycles from Ducati and Triumph.
The Scrambler version will be positioned as an off-road motorcycle, so we can expect Bajaj to offer features like a tall windscreen, luggage panniers and engine protection equipments to it. While the Classic version of the Dominar will have a retro like style reminiscent of those of cafe racers. Both are expected to get the same engine that of the Dominar 400.
This 373cc engine is capable of producing 35 BHP of power and 35 Nm of torque. We can see both these bikes coming with essentials such as Disc Brakes and ABS. Both are also expected to come at an affordable price given Bajaj Auto’s aggressive pricing strategy.
As far as its rivals, the Dominar Classic will rival the Classic 350 and 500 twins from Royal Enfield. The Dominar Scrambler could go a notch above to rival the likes of the Ducati Scrambler and the Triumph Bonneville. There has not been any news of testing yet, but expect it to arrive more sooner than later.
