The 2013 Skoda Octavia known as Laura in India could release in the second week of December 2012 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. This unveiling will be preceded by the global launch of the car which is to take place by March next-year at the Geneva Motor Show.  Sadly, in India, the car is expected to launch only by late-2013, when the car will replace the current Laura.

The 2013 Octavia will be the third car in the Volkswagen group to share the MQB platform along with the new Audi A3, which was the first car to use the MQB platform hatchback followed by the Volkswagen Golf hatchback. The new Octavia will grow in size offering more space for passengers and their luggage.

The 2013 Octavia comes with both turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines. For India, both the 1.8 Liter TSI turbo petrol engine good for 160 Bhp-259 Nm and the 2 Liter TDI turbo diesel engine which pumps out 140Bhp – 320 Nm are expected to remain the same. Transmission options will include a 6 speed manual gearbox and a 6 speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Skoda seems to have high hopes on the car, so we can expect it to be priced very close to the current version, thus offering a high value proposition.
