Jeep India delays launch of diesel Compass Automatic

Jeep India have reportedly delayed the launch of the automatic version of the Compass diesel in India. The Compass diesel automatic was scheduled to launch in January-2018, but customers have to wait for its launch. Company insiders say that Jeep has delayed its launch because of the growing demand for the Compass in our market.

Jeep launch the compass premium SUV in July last year and has sold more than 10000 units till now. In the current variant list of the compass, the petrol version is available in a 7-speed DDCT automatic transmission variant. There is no Diesel automatic version of the Compass in India.

When launched, the diesel automatic will have a 9-speed ZF gearbox. But, this may result in higher cost of the car. This would co-incide with a price hike of Rs. 30,000-85,000 for the Compass from January-2018, as reported by Jeep.

Currently the Compass is available in both petrol and diesel manual unit. The petrol version includes 1.4-litre MultiAir unit having 160 BHP of power and 250 Nm of Torque. On the other hand, the diesel version includes 2.0-litre Multijet-II engine producing 171 BHP of power and  360 Nm of Torque.

Both the manual versions come mated to a 6-speed transmission. Expect it to be launched in mid-2018, since it may have a waiting list-ready. The Jeep Compass driver the Hyundai creta, Renault Duster, Tata Hexa and Mahindra XUV 500.
