Last-week, we have brought you the uncamouflaged image of the 2013 Skoda Octavia, however it turned to be an artist rendering and not the actual car. Now the good folks at CarScoop and AutoForum.cz have managed to snap the firstever spy pictures of completely undisguised 2013 Skoda Octavia in Chile, after featuring a lot of scoops and renderings.
The all-new third generation Skoda Octavia sedan is finally revealed. The 2013 Skoda Octavia features much sleeker headlamps, it draws inspiration from the Vision D concept that Skoda showed off a while ago and somewhat resembles the 2012 European Skoda Rapid. Also if you observe the above picture clearly, you can notice the estate version of the new Octavia which hints that Skoda is getting ready for the launch soon.
As we already said, the 2013 Octavia is based on the Volkswagen MQB platform, being only the fourth car after the Audi A3, the Volkswagen Golf and the Seat Leon, the car comes with a bigger form factor while still managing to weigh lower than the outgoing model. Apart from the savings in weight, the MQB platform has also resulted in the 2013 Octavia measuring significantly bigger with the length, width and wheelbase, all increasing. The bigger dimensions make for a more spacious and a more comfortable car.
Under the hood, the new model is expected to be powered by two petrol engines and two diesel engines. The petrol engine line-up includes a 138 BHP, 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine with Active Cylinder Technology and a 104 BHP, 1.2 litre TSI petrol engine. The diesel engine offerings are a 1.6-litre TDI motor which would produce about 104 BHP and a 148 BHP, 2.0-litre TDI engine.
