Toyota Motor Company has unveiled the India-bound 2021 Toyota Fortuner (facelift) in Thailand. It’s a mid-life refresh for Toyota’s super successful SUV getting tweaks in design and a more powerful engine. The new Fortuner has been introduced in two models – a standard one with regular design and a new top-spec variant with a different fascia called Toyota Fortuner Legender.
The 2021 Fortuner Legender face is more aggressive and sporty thanks to a slimmer grille and a much larger “mouth”, both with a mesh pattern. It features dual projector LEDs with a segmented DRL design, clearly separating it from the regular Fortuner’s headlamps. At the front lower bumper, there are LED strips that double up as sequential turn signals. Furthermore gets a black roof and pillars for the “floating roof” effect, and 20-inch dual-tone alloys and a new different design rear bumper.
Coming back to the 2021 Toyota Fortuner standard one, it gets redesigned front and rear bumpers. It has slim headlamps with a centered trapezoidal grille. The front bumper houses a large air dam and has a platter of silver scuff. The SUV gets LED tail lights in the center at the rear, with black trim. It rides on wheels in dual-tone alloy.
The new Toyota Fortuner is getting an improved infotainment system on the inside that is now compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It now comes with a digital speedometer.
The company will be selling the Toyota Fortuner on the foreign market with a more powerful 2.8 liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. It produces 500 Nm and 201 BHP. The engine is mated to an automatic 6-speed transmission. The SUV has a towing capacity claimed at 3,100 kgs.
It is not yet known, if India will get both standard and Legender versions of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift. The Indian market launch is due in early-2021.
