Interestingly, Mike Manley, head of the Jeep brand, has stated that the American automaker is considering a compact SUV priced under Rs 10 lakh for emerging markets like Brazil, China and India.
The brand head has also commented that this upcoming compact SUV from Jeep will be priced similar to the top-end Ford EcoSport. If given the green light by parent company, India is likely to be a global manufacturing hub for producing the said right-hand-drive compact SUV.
Mike Manley is also strengthening their partnership with Tata Motors in the country to enhance sharing of technology, engine, transmission and platform components. The Ranjangaon Plant is a part of the current Tata-Fiat Joint Venture, which has been modified with USD 280 million investments to roll out Jeeps from next-year.
If launched, this compact SUV will become the new entry-level model in Jeep’s portfolio.
