2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R launched in India at Rs. 4.99 lakh

2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R

The wait is finally over, Bajaj Auto have just launched the much-awaited 2012 edition of the Ninja 650R in India for a smashing price of Rs 4,99,834 (ex-showroom Delhi) and goes on sale backed by Bajaj’s vast, proven Probiking sales and service. The bike will be sold in India exclusively in Kawasaki’s trademark green colour. Ever since the 2012 650R was launched globally by the Japanese motorcycle marque, we knew it was enroute to India but had no idea when it would make its appearance.

Cosmetically the 2012 Ninja 650 gets a sharper look, adjustable windscreen visor, new instrument cluster, new exhaust, a taller tank, split seat and revised suspension setup. Sporting a liquid cooled 649cc DOHC mill which produces 71PS and 66Nm of power and torque respectively, the new Ninja subscribes well to its sports-tourer tag. We are sure that like its previous version, the 2012 Ninja is a completely well rounded package as nothing much has changed mechanically.

Country’s second-largest motorcycle maker, Bajaj Auto has launched the India's first 100cc premium motorcycle, called the Discover 100T at Rs 50,500 (ex-showroom New Delhi). This newly launched bike is the most expensive 100cc Bajaj bike available in the country. The bike will be available in showrooms across the country within this month. Powered by Bajaj’s patented 4-valve DTS-i technology, the Discover 100T delivers an unbelievable 10.2 Ps of power, 30% more than other 100cc motorcycles (the highest in its class and eclipsing those of some 125cc machines), while still delivering fuel efficiency of 87 kpl. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and will hit a top speed of 100kmph. It also becomes the fastest bike in 100cc segment. As far as looks are concerned, the 100T is similar to its elder sibling, the 125ST minus the mono-shock at the rear. For that kind of money, you get an good paint quality with electric start, alloy wheels, a DC headlamp and Nitrox shock absorbers as standard. There are drum brakes at both the ends. Launching the new bike, K Srinivas, President of Motorcycle business at Bajaj Auto said, “The steady growth of the more expensive 100 cc bikes at the cost of the cheaper models is a clear evidence of this. The Discover 100T delivers power of 125 cc motorcycle and mileage of a 100 cc.” The Discover 100T is positioned in the A3 segment, where Bajaj Auto didn't have any products available till now. Other players in this A3 segment are Honda Dream Yuga and Hero MotoCorp's Passion Pro, which are priced between Rs 46,000 to Rs 51,000 at present. Furthermore, in sub-segments namely A1, the bikes like Platina and Hero HF are sold between Rs 36,000 to Rs 40,000, and in A2 segment the bikes include Splendor, Passion and its own Discover 100 that are priced between Rs 41,000 to Rs 45,000.   Also see - Bajaj’s 100-cc premium motorcycle scheduled to launch on 7th January   See more pictures of 2013 Bajaj Discover 100T -                                Image Credit - Overdrive.in
