Finally we have some good news for the new 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R buyers, that Bajaj Auto is all set to be open bookings of the same on July 15th and deliveries will commence on July 20th pan India. However, the delay in the launch was due to the fluctuating US dollar to Rupee exchange rate. Now Bajaj has covered that issue as the new edition is priced at Rs 5.80 lakh (on-road price), a hike of Rs 80,000 over the previous 650R.
Compared to the outgoing model, the 2012 Ninja 650R gets wider front fairing, new fuel tank and tail end, and a redesigned seat. It also gets more rigid twin-spar perimeter frame which will improve handling. The liquid-cooled 650cc twin cylinder engine is carried over from the older model, with power output of 72 PS @8500 rpm and maximum torque of 66 Nm @7000 rpm. However, Kawasaki has tuned the motor to deliver better low end and mid range torque to make the Ninja 650R more fun to ride in most conditions.
Bajaj will be accepting bookings in a phased manner with roughly five bikes per Probiking showroom. So, if you have been saving up for the Ninja, then you better rush. 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650R is from Thailand through completely knocked down(CKD) kits and assembled at Bajaj Auto’s factory at Chakan, Pune. The other Kawasaki product that Bajaj sells in India assembled in a similar fashion is the Ninja 250R, which is the overwhelming choice for motorcycle enthusiasts seeking an out and out performance focused 250cc sportsbike.
