Yamaha Motors will be launching their first gearless scooter, Ray in India on the 14th of September-2012. The Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has already received 5,000 bookings in just 10 days with this overwhelming response so we expect Yamaha to repeat the success. The company has also signed up Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as its brand ambassador, which is targeted at the fairer sex.
The company wants to give this new machine a perfect launch pad and want to leave no stone unturned. Now Yamaha India has begun airing teaser ads of the Ray, on TV channels, in a bid to build the buzz around this scooter ahead of its launch.
Even now the engine specifications of Yamaha Ray scooter are unknown, but the trusted sources reveal it will be equipped with an 113cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled SOHC engine which will produce around 8 bhp of power @ 8000 rpm. With the company claimed mileage of 45 kmpl.
The Ray scooter is expected to be launched in mid-September with a priced at Rs. 51,000 (on-road Pune) and Rs. 56,500 (on-road Mumbai). It will be produced at Yamaha’s plant up north at Surajpur facility in Uttar Pradesh, alongside the brand’s various motorcycle models.
