Yamaha Ray scooter clocks 5,000 bookings before the launch

Yamaha had succeeded in changing the face of entry level performance biking with its YZF R15 version 2.0, and now with Ray scooter the company has already received 5,000 bookings in just 10 days with this overwhelming response we expect Yamaha to repeat the success. The Ray scooter is expected to be launched in mid-September with a priced at Rs. 51,000 (on-road Pune) and Rs. 56,500 (on-road Mumbai).

The company has targeted Yamaha Ray scooter towards everyone between the age of 16 to 60 years and they’re expecting a conservative demand of around 20,000 units per month.  It will be produced at Yamaha’s facility in Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh with an annual production capacity of 6 lakh units. Yamaha India expects to reach the 10-lakh sales mark with the introduction of the Ray.

Roy Kurian, National Business Head, Yamaha India, told Financial Chronicle –

“We have already clocked 5,000 bookings with a down payment of Rs 5,000-10,000 across our dealer network. There has been an overwhelming response, especially from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and southern markets including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.”
