It has almost been a year since Yamaha Launched the YZF R25 in a few Asian countries and it has been in demand since then. The motorcycle was received very well by the consumers in these countries, especially in Indonesia, a nation where the Biking community is extraordinary. Indonesians love motorcycles and they also specialize in the modification of motorcycles and in the manufacturing of performance parts for motorcycles.
Yamaha R25 special edition is equipped with a newly designed Akrapovic exhaust tail.
PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor manufacturing (PIMM), simply known as Yamaha Indonesia knew this fact and they decided to keep the publicity of the YZF R25 going by launching a special edition. Yamaha Indonesia recently launched a special performance edition of the R25, and the major changes other than the race exhaust system were purely aesthetic.
The special edition R25 has its wheels painted in White, to match the white decals on the side fairing and also the white stripe on the fuel tank. Yamaha claims that this Racy Paint scheme will appeal to the performance enthusiasts. Mechanically, the R25 remains the same with the same high revving, parallel twin, 250cc engine powering the motorcycle.
This 250cc motor has a maximum power output of 36 PS (35.28 bhp) at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of Max torque at 10,000 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The major mechanical change though is not inside the engine, but is out of it. Yamaha has provided a race exhaust system supplied by Akrapovič exhausts and you can be rest assured that the parallel twin engine sounds much better with this exhaust system in place.
The special edition R25 gets 17-inch front and rear tyres, catered by Pirelli.
One might expect the special edition to priced a little higher than the normal R25, but strangely, Yamaha Indonesia has not changed the price. The R25 Special edition too sells at 53 million Indonesian Rupiah (INR 2.53 lakhs) and only 100 units of this limited edition will be produced.
Amidst all this, one cannot help but wonder if and when the R25 will be launched in India. There is no word on this, but a rumor suggests that the bigger, under development R3 might be launched here instead of the R25.
