2013 Volkswagen Cross Polo – FrontView
The German car giant, Volkswagen India launched a new sporty and more rugged version of the Polo hatchback, called the ‘Cross Polo’. The Cross Polo was the most anticipated launch of this-week, apart from Terrano, Stingray and Q3 S Edition. Although the exact launch date was unknown, just yesterday VW India has silently launched the car for Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), however the sales will start from today.
The Cross Polo slots in above the current Polo and is powered by the same 1.2-litre TDI three-cylinder diesel engine, which also does its duty to the top-end High-line diesel trim. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox good for 75 bhp and 180 Nm torque. The ride height of Cross Polo is the same at 168mm, which means that the Cross Polo is purely a cosmetic variant of the Polo, with no significant performance enhancement to speak-off.
To differentiate it from the regular Polo, the Cross Polo incorporates revised grille with a single slat, new front and rear bumpers, black side cladding with black covers for wheel arches, Cross Polo badging and satin finished roof rails and wing mirrors. On the inside, the interior remains the same to that of the regular Polo hatchback, but it is now in all-black theme. Gearshift knob and hand brake are leather wrapped as is the steering wheel.

Other features on the Cross Polo includes tilt adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable driver seat, powered wing mirrors, ABS+EBD, twin airbags, automatic climate control, reverse parking sensors and a 2-DIN CD player with Radio, AUX-IN, SD Card USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, the Cross Polo is available in three colours options to choose from; Flash Red, Reflex Silver and Deep Black Pearl.
