Suzuki have given their existing adventure motorcycle, the V-Strom 650XT a small update. This is in-line with the recent BS-VI emission norms that are in place throughout the country. The update for the V-Strom 650XT, though a minor one, comes just a year after the motorcycle was officially launched on our shores.
The V-Strom 650XT now retails at a price of Rs.8.84 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) in BS-VI form. Just like most of the models updated to the current norms, the V-Strom 650XT also receives a hike in price. Now as compared to the outgoing model, the BS-VI version of the V-Strom 650XT is pricier by Rs.1.38 lakh.
No major changes have been done to the motorcycle overall except for making the engine compliant to the current norms. Coming to the engine, the V-Strom 650XT comes powered by the same 645cc, liquid-cooled, V-Twin motor. The given motor is capable of making 70.7 BHP of power and 62 Nm of torque.
Suzuki claims that the V-Strom 650XT can reach the 0-100 kmph mark in a timespan just 5.08 seconds. The engine does come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. On the features front, the V-Strom 650XT comes with a digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator and an engine kill switch to name a few.
Safety-wise, the motorcycle is equipped with dual-channel ABS, Traction Control, low fuel warning and disc brakes both on the front and rear. The V-Strom 650XT will resume its rivalry here with the Kawasaki Versys 650, which got a BS-VI upgrade of its own only a couple of months ago. The sub-800cc adventure motorcycle space is expected to undergo a lot of activity in the next year or so, thus we can expect more competition to come in order to keep both of them honest.
