Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan has been unveiled at 2016 Auto Expo earlier this-year. Now the production has started at VW’s plant in Chakan, near Pune.
The company is building-up an inventory of the all-new Ameo, as they expected sales to exceed production capacity. Market-launch of this Amaze-rival is expected in July-2016, however, the bookings have already commenced at various VW dealerships across India at an amount of Rs. 10,000.
The all-new Ameo will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol engine will be in the form of 1.2-litre 3-cylinder MPI mill while diesel engine will be in the form of 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TDI mill. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while 7-speed DSG transmission will be offered in only diesel guise.
The Volkswagen Ameo will be offered in 3 variants – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. A total of 5 shades will be on offer – Blue Silk, Reflex Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White and Carbon Steel. It is expected to be priced ranging from Rs 6 lakh – Rs 8.25 lakh.
