TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad join hands to develop sub-500cc bikes

Good news for all the motor cycle lovers that the two companies TVS India and BMW Motorrad has already signed a long term agreement in an event held at Chennai where the duration of the agreement has not been specified indicating that both the companies would combine their efforts in developing motor cycles incorporated with engines below 500 cc of displacement.

TVS and BMW will actively participate in product development keeping in mind each others strengths and weaknesses. For instance TVS is an expert in making small products in mass scale with robust supply chain, while BMW’s bikes has high stability, agility and performance figures. Every product developed by the co-operation of these two companies will have two variants to be made in India, One of which will be sold by BMW throughout the globe and the other version which will be sold by TVS in India and Indonesia. These two variants would be manufactured either in Hosur or Mysore, where currenty TVS motorcycles is being manufactured.

TVS and BMW would bear the manufacturing costs and engineering costs respectively and whose product developed is expected in 2015. TVS will invest €20 million (around Rs. 142 crores) while BMW is not forthcoming on the investment plans i,e It will take care of all the testing and development costs of the bikes which will be executed in Germany. This new motor cycle is expected to be positioned just above TVS Apache.
