The Urban Cruiser in India has been introduced by Toyota. Three versions-Mid, High and Premium – are available for the sub-4 meter crossover and prices start at Rs. 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
A re-badged Maruti Vitara Brezza is The Toyota Urban Cruiser. To distinguish it from Maruti ‘s edition, Toyota has given the crossover a reworked front fascia. It comes with headlamps for LED projectors, tail lights for LEDs and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser’s interior looks identical to that of the Vitara Brezza. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit and comes with features such as automatic climate control, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM and wipers for rain sensing. Alloy wheels and touchscreen infotainment, which are supplemented by a 2-DIN audio device with Bluetooth connectivity, are lacking the basic version.
A 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, generating 104 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm, is powered by the Urban Cruiser. With an option of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, all three models are given. With an integrated starter generator (ISG), automatic variants get a lithium-ion battery.
