Kick-starting 2015 is the Toyota Kirloskar Motor with the launch of a top-end variant of the Fortuner, and updated Innova in India. Both the vehicles now come with standard dual-front airbags (Driver + passenger) along with some additional features. Mechanically, both the vehicles remain unchanged.
The only visual change in the updated Innova is the dark grey dual-tone alloy wheels.
The Innova gets one last update before an all-new model, which is scheduled to be unveiled at 2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi. Updated Innova gets new features like dark grey dual tone alloys, wood finish steering wheel, new design for leather seats, and oak interior colour. Apart from this, airbags now come as standard across all the variants.
Till date in India, Fortuner was sold in 3 variants: 2WD in MT and AT, and 4WD MT. Now the company has launched an all-new top of the line 4WD Automatic variant, which combines the 5-speed automatic gearbox (a regular torque converter unit) with the advantage of the SUVs 4×4 system.
The 12-spoke 17″ dark grey alloy wheels, front fog lamps with Silver Bezel, smoked-out front headlamps and tail-lamps, are the exterior changes on the new Toyota Fortuner 4×4 AT. While on the inside, the SUV gets all-new black interiors, a touch screen DVD display and navigation with voice recognition.
The top-end Fortuner now gets the convenience of AT and 4WD.
The 2015 Fortuner is available in the price range Rs 24,17,200 and Rs 26,49,429 while the new Innova is available in the range of Rs. Rs 10,51,451 and Rs 15,80,930 (All prices, Ex-showroom Delhi). Toyota India says, the price hike is not only due to the addition of new features. It is also because of the roll-back of cut in excise duty for cars. The new price is inclusive of the hike in excise duty.
