SPYSHOTS: Base-variant of Tata Zica spied without camouflage inside plant

This year is shaping up a lot to be like the year 1998. If you recall, it was then Tata Motors launched India’s first indigenously developed passenger car ‘Tata Indica’ which changed the perception of the Indian car buyer towards the home-grown car manufacturer. Because at the time the features such as air conditioning and electric windows, were restricted to only upmarket imported cars in India.

The Indica became a runaway success for Tata Motors, so much that the automaker even exported the Indica to European markets, and UK market with a MG Rover badge (it was known as the Rover CityRover there). With the announcement of Tata Zica in 2015, the company might repeat the success and regain the lost glory of Tata Motors.

Coming back to the topic, the Zica was all-set to make its public debut on the 5th December, 2015 in Goa. But things didn’t go well as the company calculated because the first set of spy shots were leaked online on Saturday, followed by the interior pics on Sunday, today morning Tata Motors officially revealed the Zica via press images.

However, all these pictures showed the top-end variant of Zica. Now thanks to Encartor-Tanay, we have the first photos of Tata Zica base-variant. The spyshots suggests that the base-variant Zica gets black front and rear bumper, black metal lip above the front grille, no chrome rim on the fog lights and steel wheels. Despite being the base-variant, the Zica gets body-colored ORVMs, rear roof spoiler and rear wiper.

Surprisingly, the rear fog lamp provided at the center of the rear bumper is seen on the base-variant but not in the top-end variant 🙁 .

All though the company has officially released the images, its specifications and variants are still under wraps. According to reports, the Zica will be on-sale in 4 variants – XE, XM, XMS and XT like the Bolt/Zest. It is expected to be available with a 1.05-litre diesel and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. CNG, LPG and AMT or e-clutch equipped variants of the cars are speculated to be on offer.

Tata Zica is expected to be officially launched in January-2016.
