Tata Motors to showcase Pixel concept at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo

Indian automaker Tata Motors has decided to showcase the futuristic Tata Nano, the Tata Nano Pixel at the Auto Expo 2012 at New Delhi in India in January 2012.  Tata Pixel is a small compact car more like Tata Nano in an electrifying outfit. From the images, it is clearly evident that the compact car offers a seating arrangement for four, but will come with a single wing-shaped door which opens upward on either side.

The Pixel is powered by a powerful 1.2 Litre 3 cylinder turbocharged engine with high fuel economy and low tailpipe emissions. It’s a forward looking design with attractive visual appeal. It features stable and comfortable drive for 4 passengers and can accommodate well with the congested city traffic and tight parking spaced.

The Tata Pixel Concept also introduces ‘My Tata Connect’ the first integrated human-machine interface (HMI) concept from Tata Motors for its new generation program. The system allows seamless integration of the driver’s smartphone or Apple iPad with the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Some high fuel efficiency figures can be expected where the auto major claims to have 35 kmpl on the board along with being extremely frugal on emissions. As low as 89 gm/km emissions are expected from this high performing diesel engine. Coming to whether the pixel concept is intended for an India launch, which is still far-fetched for the moment at it, is going to be a while before the car will go into the production. Furthermore, by the looks of it, the car is more meant for the international markets than for the Indian market with its supreme good looks matched with some hi-tech gadgetry.

Looks good? Of course. Can it work? Time will tell.
