“There are different routes and opportunity to launch a model in India and the completely built unit route is one of them. Every route is open to us and we are still evaluating. The small car is under development. We had announced earlier that our intention is to launch it in 2012. The exact timing and details will be shared when we will be ready with the product,” Rajeev Kapoor, president and CEO, Fiat India, said.

The small car is been developed at Fiat’s Italy R&D center in Turin, with inputs from Fiat’s Indian engineers in Delhi. The small car will have 80-85% local content and will be manufactured at the company’s facelity in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. Fiat’s small car expected to unveil at the 2012 auto expo.
