PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI), wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd., today announced its foray into the Indonesian automotive industry with the launch of three new exciting Tata passenger vehicles — the Tata Aria, the Tata Vista and the Tata Safari Storme. These three models, launched today, are the new-age range of Tata’s extensive passenger vehicles which are unique, quality products, perfectly matched, to meet growing demand among Indonesian consumers of contemporary, next-generation car offerings, seven-seat crossover variants, and tough, durable SUV’s. With these three debut products, TMDI believes that Indonesian consumers will be able to enjoy best vehicle experience.
Commenting on the commercial launch, Mr. Karl Slym, the Managing Director of Tata Motors, has said, “As a global company, committed to bringing great vehicles and experiences to our customers across different geographies, we are delighted to now extend our footprint into the exciting Indonesian market. Since we made the announcement to enter this market a year back, we have tested various products across Indonesian terrain and are convinced that we are bringing in the right product mix, offering smart solutions for mobility to our Indonesian customers. We look forward to a long relationship with our customers here, with products and service that match their needs and aspirations as well by contributing to the local ecosystem and becoming a committed partner to the community here.”
“Today, Tata Motors announces the launch of its three flagship product offerings for the Indonesian market, the Tata Aria, Tata Vista and Tata Safari Storme. Affirming our commitment to expand in Indonesia, a market that offers huge potential,” said Biswadev Sengupta, President Director of PT TMDI.
“We believe that these three high-quality Tata Motors products will become the first choice for a new breed of Indonesian auto consumers seeking unrivalled durability, quality and safety. All these products are being introduced after extensive trials and tests in Indonesia to ensure that they meet the operating requirements here.” he added.
The first of the three debut product offerings announced by TMDI is Tata Vista GZX small hatchback, a 1.400cc small hatchback providing stylish, durable and efficient performance for smart, dynamic and creative urban dwellers, complemented with superb fuel economy and offering affordable parts and servicing. This car comes with a Gasoline engine.
The second product is Tata Aria Pure 4×2 2.2L MT, an MPV crossover that has become one of the most popular choices for Indian auto consumers, a success that TMDI fully believes will be replicated in Indonesia. Tata Aria is the first crossover developed in India. In the initial launch phase in Indonesia, TMDI will offer Tata Aria 4×2 variant only, which the company believes will have an immediate impact on Indonesia’s MPV-dominated market.
According to TMDI, the Aria crossover offers a unique combination of two sets of characteristics: an MPV by design, and an SUV by performance. TMDI believes that this unique combination will succeed in attracting a new type of consumer in Indonesia. Alongside Tata Aria and Vista comes the launch of the Tata Safari Storme EX, an SUV that brings to Indonesia a legendary reputation forged in India as a durable, tough performer that can’t be stopped, an unbeatable class leader. Both the Tata Aria and Tata Safari Storme come with high performance Diesel engine.
“Tata products are created from the best manufacturing materials, offering unrivaled durability to any consumer. Very soon, we will be coming out with many more products,” Biswadev said.
Besides durable build quality and world-class finishing, the three TMDI products offer consumers safety and peace of mind. Thanks to the company’s comprehensive service and parts network, which ensure consumers of coverage in all service aspects and smooth availability of parts at all location.
“We are introducing five 3S (sales, Service and Spare Parts) dealers to Indonesia today and 4 more will come up by Dec’13 and we hope to have a total of 15 dealerships by March’14, Apart from these set ups, we are setting up around 40 additional workshops by March’14 which will offer customers service almost at their door steps,” Biswadev added.
All TMDI workshops will have fully trained manpower and necessary tools, equipment and parts to give the best attention to our customers. Today, we are also launching our flagship 24×1 parts program where we are committing that if we can’t supply a part within 24 hours, it will be offered free of cost to the customer. A lot of work has gone in the background to make this happen. All our vehicles come with best in class warranty and free service support.
Indonesia is increasingly becoming one of the most promising emerging markets and Tata Motors sees an immense potential for growth here. The company is excited to participate and partner in that growth. PT Tata Motors Indonesia was established in September 2012 with a long term commitment to this market.
As elsewhere in the world and as is the Tata practice, Tata Motors will function in Indonesia as an Indonesian company, responsive to and inspired by the needs and aspirations of the customer and contributing to the communities.
