Tata Motors has released the teaser images with the message ‘One day to go… We are going to redefine the future. Stay Tuned!’
According to the report in Overdrive, Tata Motors is all-set to introduce a performance sub-brand which is likely to be called TaMo (Tata Motors – shortened). A performance-oriented sub-brand similar to the likes of Nissan’s Nismo or Hyundai’s N is what Tata targets.
The new line of go-faster, more dynamically-focussed Tatas will hopefully bridge the brand’s biggest downfall so far – its lack of emotional link to its customers. It will then act as a halo sub-brand to liven up the company’s image. Tata’s European Technical Centre (TMETC) in Coventry, UK and the Tata Engineering Research Centre (ERC) in Pune will play a crucial role in this venture.
No word yet on which model will receive the TaMo treatment first, but it’s only logical to look at the Tata Motors upcoming i20-rival codenamed ‘X451′ – However, the publication reports that tomorrow’s event might just witness a render of the actual car. Further adds that TaMo monikered concept car will be displayed at the upcoming 87th Geneva International Motor Show, which is scheduled from 9th to 19th March, 2017.
At the moment we have no clue when the prototype will enter production, but we expect the details to be revealed on the sets of the motor show. The idea of introducing a performance sub division with a new brand name isn’t new within Tata Motors, and the same had been considered during the Karl Slym era. Waiting for so long, now we are quite excited to see just how this new venture shapes-up for Tata Motors.
Other than the hot X451 hatch, quicker, more serious variants of the Kite5, Nexon or even bigger crossovers could be on the cards. Anyone filled with excitement yet?
