The Honda BR-V has been launched in India. Priced between Rs. 8.75 lakh and Rs. 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it competes with the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross and Mahindra Scorpio in terms of pricing.
Measuring 4,456mm in length, 1,735mm in width, 1,666mm in height, it has a wheelbase of 2,662 mm and a ground clearance of 210 mm. It is available as a 7-seater in E, S, V and VX variants. And a boot space can be extended to 691 liters once rear seats are turned down. The BR-V rides on 16-inch wheels shod with 195/60 section tyres.
Noteworthy features on the VX variant include projector headlamps, LED position lamps, faux skid plates, chrome side protectors, chrome door handles, roof rails, diamond-finished 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators, heat absorbing windshield, leather upholstery, keyless entry with push button start, 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth and a 3D speedometer with a multi-information display among others.
On-sale in both petrol and diesel engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC petrol engine produces 117 BHP @ 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque @ 4,600 rpm, and a 1.5-cylinder, 4-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine develops 99 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol unit also has an option of CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with paddle-shifters.
Delivers an ARAI-certified mileage of 15.4 kpl, 16 kpl and 21.9 kpl, for the petrol manual, petrol CVT and diesel respectively. A total of 6 shades are on offer – White Orchid Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Taffeta White, Carnelian Red Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic. The BR-V comes with a 3 years unlimited km warranty with another 2 years of optional extended warranty.
As far as safety is concerned, the BR-V’s all variants are equipped with dual front airbags as standard. In addition, all diesel variants get ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) too, while on the petrol variants, they are standardized from the S variant. It also gets vehicle stability control and hill start assist.
