Tata Motors are readying a premium SUV which will debut in November-2018, while launch is confirmed for first quarter of 2019. The company today announced the name of the much-acclaimed SUV as ‘Tata Harrier’ aka H5X Concept that made its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February this-year.
In the run-up to the commercial launch preparations, the company has released three teasers as well. The Harrier will be built on the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s architecture, thus sharing a few components with the vehicle. It will be positioned in between the Nexon and Hexa in Tata Motors line-up.
Tata will give the Harrier a 2.0-litre turbocharged Multijet diesel engine. This engine will produce 140 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque, as per reports. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, though an automatic version is expected to arrive in near future.
We can expect the Harrier to be priced around Rs. 12 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 18 lakh mark. This premium SUV will have its rivals like the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the upcoming Nissan Kicks. The H5X is believed to be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater options, which would give it an advantage in practicality over its rivals.
