Tata Motors has struggled hard to promote Tata Aria MPV, the first India crossover car. So far, the sales of Aria in India have not been impressive, the main reason being the high cost. The kind of features and technology and drives well too. However, being available only with 4×4 hit the product’s sale badly.
Tata Motors having experienced not-so-great sales for the Aria 4×4, the company has finally decided to bring the 4×2 version of the product to the market. Thanks to Team-Bhpian member Arjab, he confirms what we always had expected right from the beginning.
And apparently Tata dealers have even begun accepting bookings for the 4X2 Tata Aria. After facing tepid sales for the past few months, the Aria has been doing relatively reasonable numbers with the June sales at 356 units, which is a marked improvement from previous months. The Tata Aria 4X2 is expected to be available from July, across all the Aria variants with a price drop of 1-1.5 Lakhs over the equivalent 4X4 variant.
All these developments suggest that the plans to introduce the 4×2 version are on, although no official word has come out. In all probability, we should see a 4×2 version of the Aria plying on our roads in less than a month’s time from now. We’re sure the 2WD variant will bring in the volumes for the Indian auto major, and provide people with a genuinely good option for those looking for a spacious and feature packed people mover.
