Our friends at GoaonWheels have spotted a few Aria test mules on way back to Goa from Pune the NH4. There were 4 cars which were being tested, with all the badges removed except for the Tata logo and had loads of testing equipment with wires all around.
Tata Motors recently launched the ARIA MPV in India and the response for the vehicle is not up to the mark which just receives around 300 units per month. To bypass that, the company might be testing the 2WD version to control the cost compared to Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo.
This opens up host of possibilities for Aria. Is this the 4×2 version of the Aria that is being tested?
The four wheel drive of the Aria is clearly something that is not required in a MPV. Removing the 4×4 wheel drive will considerable reduce the cost of the Aria. It will also add up to better fuel economy figures. The vehicle which is been tested has Tata Logo and no vehicle name on the rear part. The car has not changed on the exterior and the interiors had a lot of wires appeared on the testing vehicle.
We haven’t got any confirmation whether it is a powerful version of Aria or to launch the vehicle in Europe? Time will answer this question.
