Mahindra Bolero soon to be updated, facelift coming 2020

News has come that Mahindra and Mahindra will be giving their rugged SUV, the Bolero an upgrade. This is in order to comply with the upcoming safety and emission norms. Coming to the Bolero, the vehicle has been a consistent seller for the homegrown automaker since it was launched in 2001.

Mahindra Bolero will be updated to comply with the upcoming BSVI, Crash Test Norms.

Many major automakers have decided to phase out existing products present in their line-up here. This can be due to the poor sales numbers here. The Bolero, being an existing product of some sorts, will not be axed owing to its commanding presence in rural markets across India.

There aren’t many changes set to take place in terms of the design of the Bolero. However, the engine will be more refined and upgraded in order to meet the BS-VI emission norms. Currently, the Bolero comes powered by a 2.5 litre m2diCR diesel engine, giving 63 BHP of power and 195 Nm of torque.

The current-gen Bolero is extremely popular in the Tier-II and Tier-III cities because of its rugged body and hassle-free ownership.

The more powerful Bolero Power+ model has a 1.5 litre mHawkD70 diesel motor. It can deliver 71 BHP of power and 195 Nm of torque. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Major additions will take place in terms of the features in the vehicle. The updated Bolero will come with features such as ABS with EBD, dual airbags, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminder alert. It will be compliant to the current crash testing norms.

Unconfirmed report says an all-new Mahindra Bolero is expected to be introduced in early-2020.

The updated Bolero will see a marginal increase in its price when launched. Reports state that Mahindra will also be upgrading the Thar based on the same criterion. We can expect the updated Bolero to arrive here soon and the Thar later on. The all-new Mahindra Bolero too is expected to be launched in early-2020, but no test mules have been spotted yet!

Bajaj to a update the Avenger, launch scheduled for early 2018

With the launch of the Suzuki Intruder 150 early this-month, Bajaj Auto is expected to feel the heat. This is because the Intruder 150 will be a direct rival to the Avenger Street 150 from Bajaj. So, the company has confirmed the launch of an updated Avengers series.

As per reports, the updated Avenger will be launched in March-2018. This will come from Bajaj in a bid to spoil Suzuki’s party. Since 2015, The Avenger has been a strong seller for Bajaj, despite being a premium offering from the company.

At the same time, Bajaj will also look to upgrade its existing range of bikes to keep them in demand. Coming back to the Avenger, not much information has been revealed so far about the bike. The Avenger does enjoy a big popularity in India and Bajaj will look to make the bike more retro to bring in more sales.

Currently sold in 3 variants Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220, all the 3 bikes come within 5 speed manual gearbox. While the former produces 14.5 bhp of power and 12.5 Nm of talk, the other 2 produce 9.03 and 7.5 Nm of power and torque respectively. Bajaj will look to make the battle with Suzuki more exciting.

REPORT: Mahindra to regularly update the KUV 100 and TUV 300

Mahindra is planning to regularly update 2 of its compact SUVs – KUV100 and TUV300 to keep it fresh from some growing competition amongst rival automakers. Both these models are popular and we’ll known, but that hasn’t resulted in sales and the company is lagging behind in the compact SUV segment here.

Computer-generated image by digital artist Meet Singh done in Photoshop, for representation purpose only.

These cars haven’t met the expectations placed on them by the company, but they still have time to correct it. Both the KUV100 and TUV300 have seen a small dip in sales in the past few months, due to growing competition not only from its segment, but also the premium hatchback sentiment as well.

As of now, these cars will be refreshed and updated, but it’s rivals are still selling well despite not being refreshed. One more reason for taking this step could be the growth of the compact SUV segment, which will see a couple of new launches this-year like the Tata Nexon and Volkswagen’s compact SUV.

Picture here is used for representation purpose only.

Currently, the compact SUV segment, less by the Maruti Vitara Brezza, is achieving record numbers every month, with the KUV100 and TUV300 contributing a small part of it.

These facelift’s will mean intense competition in this fast growing segment and only time can tell whether this strategy of facelift-ing the KUV100 and TUV300 has worked for Mahindra or not. At the moment, these cars will be fighting for sales with the competition.

SPY VIDEO: 2017 Yamaha YZF-R15 v3.0 testing on the road?

This is somewhat of a surprise, as spy videographers have caught a first glimpse of what is reckoned as the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R15 v3.0. In this video, most of that seems to have been hidden, save for a few elements.

Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 draws inspiration from YZF-R125 and YZF-R6.

Although it’s still in wraps, the 2017 YZF-R15 v3.0’s design appears to look very aggressive indeed, and is certainly to my personal tastes. We can clearly see from the spy pictures that Yamaha has used Upside Down Forks for front suspension and the Delta Box chassis seen on the current R15 is present too. The taillamp is sleeker and can trace its origins to the new R6.

The upcoming YZF-R15 v3.0 will further get first-in-the-segment full LED headlamps with a huge air intake (not sure if its functional). Braking duties are handled by all round disc brakes as on the current R15 and an ABS ring has not been seen yet on test bikes, leaving us speculating more about it. It runs on 17-inch blackened 5-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres.

The rendered picture shows Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 in a new Racing Blue color scheme.

The new powertrain is expected to get a bigger VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) mill with an engine displacement of around 155 cc. This will help the bike produce more power and will be more track focused than the current version. Expected to launch in the mid-2017, the YZF-R15 v3.0 will be priced more than the exiting model.

Checkout a video, after a jump.

SPIED: New TVS Apache RTR 180 – is it set to debut this-year!

Remember that TVS prototype we posted earlier this-month which was believed to be the TVS Draken 250 on-test. Now the folks at OverDrive say that test-mule spotted was not the Draken 250 but the updated RTR 180 snapped by its reader, Nicholson Fredrick during testing near Bangalore.

new-tvs-apache-rtr-180-rear-spiedThe updated RTR 180 is expected to be in showrooms sometime this-year.

Design-wise, the new Apache RTR 180 will carry the same lines as the Draken Concept showcased at the 2014 India Auto Expo held at New Delhi last-year. Like the current-gen, the updated RTR 180 will get a rear disc brake and ABS. The biggest update on the RTR 180 is the introduction of a much needed monoshock suspension at rear. In terms of power, the RTR 180 is expected to receive a slight increase in power than the current 180cc version with addition of a fuel injection and an oil-cooler.

Surprisingly, the updated RTR 180 is expected to reach showrooms sometime this-year itself, however, at the moment there no fix date on when exactly the launch will happen. The RTR series is known always for its blend of styling, comfort, handling, performance, mileage & features. The new motorcycle is expected to take this tradition to all new-level with some more refinement thrown in.

new-tvs-apache-rtr-180-side-spiedA slight increase in power on the new Apache RTR 180 is expected.

Furthermore, the source reveals that TVS Motors preferred not to increase the cubic capacity for the updated Apache series as this will drive-up the price. And when the TVS-BMW’s speculated 300cc motorcycle is launched, the price difference between two will be too narrow, thus, the company has proceeded with the 180cc configuration.
